At the meeting of the Parks Committee held on 4.4.1960, it was subsequently resolved, by Minute 22205, that the Committee concurred in the Public Works Committee’s resolution that the 10,25 acre plot of land should be used either jointly or separately as public open space or school playing fields.

The above matter arose out of a request made to the Public Works Committee by the firm of the Brimingham Battery and Metal Co. Ltd., enquiring that as the firm’s sports ground in Gibbins Road which was not being used to its fullest potential, could it be developed for private residential purposes.
